Can I Colour, Tone or Bleach my InvisiBelle Clip-in Hair Extensions?
There are several reasons why you may consider colouring your clip in hair extensions, you’ve changed your hair colour, you want to refresh the colour of a well-loved set, or you just want to experiment with a bold, crazy colour.
Before making a decision, there are a few important factors to take into account.
Extensions can only be coloured darker, not lighter. This is a crucial point to consider: clip-in extensions, or any type of extensions, have already undergone a chemical process. Further attempts to lighten them will trigger a chemical reaction, leading to hair that is brittle, dry, and prone to shedding.
You can dye your extensions darker, just opt for high-quality salon-grade colour and keep in mind that extensions may absorb colour differently than your natural hair due to their porosity.
Toning can freshen up the colour of a well-loved set. Extensions made of real hair may naturally fade over time from washing. However, you can revitalize them with a toner application to restore their original look, similar to how you care for your own-coloured hair.
Purple shampoo is best used sparingly. This product is excellent for giving blonde and brunette hair extensions an ashy tone, but it's advised not to apply it directly to the extensions. Instead, prepare a warm bath with the purple shampoo and gently dip the extensions until you reach the desired shade. Alternatively, consider using a purple conditioner as a less drying option compared to the shampoo.
To make vibrant colours pop, opt for a lighter shade as a base. When aiming for colours like baby pink, lavender, blue, or red, starting with light blonde extensions will yield the best outcomes. Just like the purple shampoo trick, create a warm bath with your chosen colour, then carefully dip the extensions until you achieve the desired shade.
We love to see the creative ways our hair extensions are repurposed, but it's essential to exercise caution when colouring them on your own.
